Breeze Little have announced that their gallery, 249-253 Cambridge Heath Road, London, will be closing with their final show on 29 July 2017. The show, 31 Women, revisits Peggy Guggenheim’s seminal 1943 exhibition in New York with a dazzling and varied roster of artists including Tracey Emin, Bridget Riley, Jo Spence and Rose Wylie. The gallery, which has been open since 2011 in different spaces, said:
“It’s been a huge privilege to work with the energetic community of artists, curators and institutions who have contributed to our programme over the years.
The new space in Bethnal Green and the valued support from our neighbours enabled us to mount an ambitious programme, committed to longer and fewer exhibitions, allowing for a more considered critical approach. We have been unable to sustain the programme with the focus we envisaged, however, and rather than compromise the scope of our exhibitions, and the depth of contact with artists, have come to the sad decision of permanently closing Breese Little.”
