In some much needed good news this week, Shift by Jenny Saville achieved the artists’ highest sale price at auction at Sotheby’s on Wednesday evening, selling to The Long Museum, Shanghai, for £6.8 million.
Last exhibited in the now infamous Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Collection which first took place at the Royal Academy in 1997, Saville’s Shift was one of five pieces by the artist included in the show.
It will be included in “She” later this year, an exhibition of works by international female artists at the Long Museum (West Bund), July 27th to October 30th 2016.
